Tirta Gangga was formerly a water park belonging to the Karangasem Kingdom which was built by the King of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem Agung in 1946. Tirta Gangga comes from the word "Tirta" which means holy water and the word "Gangga" which is the name of a holy river in India .From its name, it is meant that this tourist park has holy water originating from the Ganges River, and is a form of respect for the Hindu community.Tirta Gangga was built on an area of 1.2 hectares that extends from east to west in a rice field area. There are three buildings that dominate the character, namely the statue, the pool building and the plantation area. All these buildings have implied meanings in them.
The natural conditions of Tirta Gangga are very cool, this is because it is located at the foot of Mount Agung. The beauty and coolness of the location is what makes tourists comfortable and at home visiting this tourist attraction for a long time. The calm and peaceful atmosphere of Tirta Gangga is very suitable as a way to relieve fatigue and relieve fatigue from the tiring activities of life. At the first gate, tourists will be greeted by statues lined up neatly like soldiers. Visitors can explore the pond by walking over the pond with a path made of stones neatly arranged like a series of bridges. Apart from the pool containing holy water, there is also a swimming pool intended for tourists. If you want to swim in this pool, visitors have to pay 6 thousand rupiah. The pool used is the Sanih water pool which also has clear and fresh water. Swimming pools for children are differentiated from adults because the depth of the pool is different. Location of Tirta Gangga Tourist Park is located in Ababi Village, Abang District, Karangasem Regency. The location is about 5 kilometers north of the center of Amlapura City. From Kuta it is around 75 kilometers with a travel time of approximately 2 hours.
