A Brief History of Taman UjungTaman Ujung Karangasem was built by the king of Karangasem I Gusti Bagus Jelantik, who had the title Anak Agung Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. Initially the area was almost 400 hectares, but now only about 10 hectares remain. Most of this land was distributed to the community during the land reform period. This park is the private property of the Puri Karangasem family. However, general visitors are allowed to visit it. Taman Ujung was built in 1909 on the initiative of Anak Agung Anglurah. The architects were a Dutchman named van Den Hentz and a Chinese named Loto Ang. This construction also involved an undagi (traditional Balinese architect). Taman Ujung is actually a development of the Dirah pool which was built in 1901. The construction of Taman Ujung was completed in 1921. In 1937, Taman Ujung Karangasem was inaugurated with a marble inscription written in script in Latin and Balinese script and two langu ges, Malay and Balinese.
